Strawberry Puree Margarita Recipe

Hey there, cocktail enthusiasts! Today, we’re whipping up a classic with a twist – a Strawberry Puree Margarita. It’s fresh, it’s delicious, and it’s gonna knock your socks off. So, let’s get started, shall we?

Key Ingredients

The star of our show today is the humble strawberry. We’re using fresh strawberries to make a luscious reduction that’s gonna give our margarita a real kick of flavor. We’re also using a good quality tequila because, let’s face it, there’s no point in making a margarita if you’re not gonna do it right.

How to Make

First off, we’re gonna make our strawberry reduction. You don’t have to make it fresh, but come on, you should. It’s so delicious. So quarter and hull some fresh strawberries and place them directly into your pot. You want about half a cup or so, but hey, the more the merrier, right?

Once those strawberries are in there, we’re gonna add a little bit of acid to brighten it up. So two tablespoons of fresh lemon juice goes in. And then you can either add in a teaspoon of sugar and a little bit of water, or a splash of simple syrup. Your call.

Now we’re gonna take this onto a medium-high heat and then just muddle it, let it come to a boil and simmer down. It’ll be a beautiful reduction of strawberry flavor. So let’s muddle the strawberries a bit to get them started, and then the heat will do the rest.

We’re gonna use a few tablespoons of lime juice for acidity, so just get those fresh limes out, cut them in half and squeeze ’em. Don’t use that pre-made lime juice, that stuff is not good. It’s okay, not as good, so use fresh lime juice.

Tips and Tricks

If you want, really chill that reduction down and add more ice, it’ll be more of like a classic frozen margarita. But I like mine kind of like an old-fashioned Daiquiri as far as consistency goes.

Recommended Equipment

You’re gonna need a good blender for this one. Nothing too fancy, just something that can handle a bit of ice and fruit. And of course, a good set of glasses for serving. I like to salt my rim, so a small plate for the salt is handy too.

Strawberry Puree Margarita

  • Yield: 2 servings

Description

This Strawberry Puree Margarita is the perfect cocktail to enjoy outside. It’s not too strong, it’s refreshing, and it’s just right. The salt, the sweetness, the acid, the tequila, the orange liqueur, it all works together so well. You can scale this recipe way up and make a huge batch, or you can make a couple at a time and pace yourself.

Instructions

  • Quarter and hull your strawberries and place them in a pot
  • Add in your lemon juice and sugar or simple syrup
  • Muddle the strawberries and bring the mixture to a boil, then let it simmer down
  • Squeeze your limes and set the juice aside
  • Once your reduction is cool, add it to your blender along with your ice, lime juice, orange liqueur, and tequila
  • Pulse it on crush until it’s all nicely combined
  • Run a spent lime across the rim of your glass and dip it in salt
  • Pour your drink and garnish with a sliced strawberry

Notes

  • You can make more of the strawberry reduction and use it in different kinds of drinks, like smoothies
  • I like an acidic margarita, so I use the juice of a full lime. You could use half, it’s up to you
  • I don’t suggest using Triple Sec, not my favorite. Cointreau and Grand Marnier have a dash of bitterness that offsets the sugar of the liqueur
