Paloma Cocktail Recipe

there, cocktail lovers! Laura from The Beagle Cocktail here. Today, we’re talking about one of my all-time favorite drinks, the Paloma. This refreshing cocktail is my go-to whenever I have fresh grapefruit on hand. It’s perfectly sweet but tangy, and I’m sure you’ll love it too!

Key Ingredients

The Paloma is a simple cocktail, but don’t let that fool you. The key to a great Paloma lies in its ingredients. Here are a couple that I think are particularly important:

  • Fresh Grapefruit Juice: This is the star of the show. The Paloma is all about that fresh, tangy grapefruit flavor. Don’t skimp on this one, folks. Freshly squeezed is the way to go.
  • Tequila: A good quality tequila can make all the difference. I prefer a blanco tequila for its clean, crisp flavor.

How to Make

Making a Paloma is as easy as pie. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  • First, salt your glass. This is optional, but I think it adds a nice touch.
  • Add in your fresh grapefruit juice, lime juice, and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Next, add in your tequila and give it another good stir.
  • Fill your glass with ice, then top it off with club soda.
  • Finally, garnish with a grapefruit wedge or peel. Voila! Your Paloma is ready to enjoy.

Tips and Tricks

Here are a few tips and tricks to help you make the perfect Paloma:

  • If you’re not a fan of sweet drinks, feel free to skip the sugar. But remember, the sugar helps balance out the cocktail.
  • If you find the drink too strong, you can wait for the ice to melt or add more club soda.
  • Always use fresh lime juice. The bottled stuff just doesn’t compare.
  • You can substitute sugar with agave syrup or sugar syrup if you prefer.

Paloma Cocktail

  • Author: Laura Dovnaki
  • Total Time: 2 minutes
  • Yield: 2 drinks

Description

The Paloma is a refreshing, tangy cocktail that’s perfect for any occasion. It’s easy to make and even easier to enjoy. So why not give it a try?

Ingredients

  • Sea salt for rim
  • 2 oz fresh grapefruit juice (60mL)
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice (15mL)
  • 1 tsp sugar (5g)
  • 2 oz tequila (60mL)
  • 2 oz club soda (60mL)
  • Grapefruit wedge or peel for garnish

Instructions

  • Salt glass. Add in juices and sugar, stir until dissolved.
  • Add in tequila and stir.
  • Add ice and soda water.
  • Garnish with grapefruit peel or slice.

Notes

  • Feel free to skip the sugar to make this paloma cocktail recipe less sweet. However, keep in mind that the sugar helps balance out the cocktail as the club soda doesn’t have added sugar compared to a traditional soda.
  • If this drink is too strong for your liking, you can just wait for the ice to melt or add additional soda water to it.
  • Always use fresh lime juice as the bottled lime juice does not have the same bright citrus flavor and may have a slightly bitter aftertaste.
  • You can use agave syrup or sugar syrup in place of sugar if you prefer.
