Description
Traditionally served during the holidays, coquito is a Puerto Rican cocktail. Condensed milk, evaporated milk, coconut milk, coconut cream, white rum, and spices are combined to make it. The end product is a tropical, creamy drink that will definitely warm you up on a chilly winter’s evening.
Ingredients
- 1 can of condensed milk
- 1 can of evaporated milk
- 1/2 can of coconut milk (about 1 cup)
- 8 oz of coconut cream
- 1 cup of white rum
- 1/4 tsp of cinnamon
- 1 tsp of vanilla
- 1/4 tsp of nutmeg
Instructions
- Open the can of condensed milk and pour it into a large mixing bowl.
- Open the can of evaporated milk and add it to the bowl.
- Open the can of coconut milk and add about half a can (or one cup) to the bowl.
- Open the can of coconut cream and add about eight ounces to the bowl.
- Add one cup of white rum to the bowl.
- Add a quarter teaspoon of cinnamon, a teaspoon of vanilla, and a quarter teaspoon of nutmeg to the bowl.
- Using a whisk, mix all the ingredients together until they’re well combined.
- Taste the mixture and adjust the ingredients as needed.
- Once you’re happy with the taste, pour the mixture into a bottle or jar and refrigerate it for at least two hours.
Notes
- Make sure to give the Coquito a good shake or stir before serving, as the ingredients may separate over time.
- Coquito can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- If you want to make a non-alcoholic version of Coquito, simply leave out the rum.
- For a fun twist, try adding a splash of bourbon or brandy to your Coquito.
- If you want to make a big batch of Coquito for a party, consider doubling or tripling the recipe.
